Police group entering slot business
September 5
In Clarksburg, West Virginia slot machine are in the
news again. Many online slots players will find this story to be
interesting. we have learned that in a move to get away from telemarketing
as a means to generate donations, a Clarksburg-based Fraternal Order of
Police (FOP) chapter wants to open a restaurant with slot machines.
The FOP's Mountaineer Lodge 78 has rented a building
for the restaurant/slots and plans to open a steakhouse there in about a
month. Since the FOP is a fraternal organization, state law permits it to
operate up to ten limited video lottery machines. The machines must be in a
separate room with limited gainful access.
The FOP president says that video poker machines are
perfectly legal in the state of West Virginia. He added that the FOP will
run its new adventure strictly by the book, too.
In the past, the group has been dependant on its
monthly bingo games and telemarketing campaigns to raise money for
charities. Over the past 3 years, the FOP has donated $35,000 from its bingo
games. In the future, the not for profit organization plans to donate even
more if the slots become successful.
With the new onslaught of telephone based sales calls and the complaints
they cause all over the country (including the do not call list), money for
charity is harder to get for the FOP.
If the restaurant and slots are a hiy, the FOP
anticipates earning at least $1,000 a month from the slots.
