Gulf Coast casinos destroyed among massive hurricane wreckage
August 31
If you live near the Mississippi Gulf Coast or New Orleans, you are probably too
busy trying to see if you have a home rather than playing online slots. In fact,
those poor people may not have electricity for weeks to come. Many of these
displaced people used to work in the casinos that stood until just a few days
ago.
While the exact details are not known regarding all the wonderful and
economy-boosting casino resorts, we are certain that they will not be in
operation for months to come.
Harrah's in New Orleans, stands to lose a whopping $1 million each day it is
closed. AT this time Harrah's in New Orleans is still standing, but with roof
damage and some flooding. It seems this building is doing better than most as
far as flooding is concerned. The impact this whole disaster has had on the
region is of complete devastation.
No word is out yet regarding the riverboat casino that was operated just outside
zthe city on the Mississippi River.
As far as Mississippi is concerned, the casinos there are almost totally
obliterated. The Beau Rivage look as if it fared the best, but it is far from
damage-free. The Palace Casino Resort and its 14,000+ sq. ft. casino floor and
200+ hotel rooms were reportedly slipping right into the Gulf yesterday morning.
This whole nightmare of events are tragic and will live in history as one of the
biggest natural disasters ever. Our hearts go out to all the people that have
lost everything and the casino workers that no longer have a job. We only hope
the rebuilding process will prevail.
