Just when online slot players were hearing so much about
huge payouts, we learn that institutions rake in much more. These days, online
slots players are not the only ones winning big. In Connecticut, for the month
of July only, the state has earned over $40 million from slot winnings.
Moreover, there are only 2 Indian owned and operated casinos in Connecticut.
One of the casinos is the hugely successful Foxwoods
Resort Casino. It reported a staggering $80.1 million in slot earnings for just
the month of July alone. This marks the casinos record for slot earnings for one
month. Before July's record month for slot revenue, the record was $77.6
million. As it happened, that record was made during the same month last year
(July 2004).
The other American Indian run casino in the state, Mohegan
Sun, posted slot revenue at about $80.1 million for July. These earnings are
incredible if you think about it. Based on those slot earnings, each casino gave
approximately $20 million to the state. This makes the State's total income to
be $40 million for the month.
At Foxwoods, there were about 7,417 slot machines were in
play each day. At Mohegan Sun, 6,205 were used daily.
Each month under current law agreements, both casinos give
the state 25% of slot earnings
